FAQ

Amazon associates attend a full-stack Java coding bootcamp on a part-time basis.  This is a remote coding bootcamp program. It’s delivered synchronously every other weekend during “Code Jams,” and in between, you’ll learn on your own time via our learning management system. Throughout, you’ll have access to tutoring sessions, instructors, and your classmates!

The course takes place over a span of 22 weeks. There are “Code Jam” weekends every other Saturday and Sunday. In -between you’ll login to our portal where you’ll have access to our instructional content. Tutoring sessions and forums (via Slack) are available in-between “Code Jams”.

We Can Code IT will provide you with an exact schedule and provide instructions about requesting accommodations from Amazon. Most students do not have issues with this based on the feedback they’ve provided.

All classes and support are held virtually.

Live sessions (“Code Jams”):

  • Attend over Zoom
  • Every other weekend (Saturday AND Sunday)
  • Each session lasts from 9am to 5pm EST
  • Led by lead and associate instructors

Self-guided work:

  • 10 to 15 hours per week
  • Flexible hours with deadlines

Additional support:

  • Weekly tutoring sessions
  • Office hours
  • Slack community

Recommended:

  • Intel i7
  • 16 GB or higher RAM
  • 500 GB or higher SSD drive
  • Windows 11 64-bit.

*Mac or PC is fine as long as it can run Windows 10.*

Minimum:

  • Intel i5 (Quad-core) or AMD Ryzen processor
  • 8GB RAM
  • 256GB SSD drive
  • Windows 10 Home 64-bit.

Coding bootcamp prerequisites:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Passed test result to two assessments.
  • Be a full-time employee at Amazon.
  • Have Career Choice benefits that equal $5,250 (full-time benefits).
  • An Amazon Career Choice eligibility date before May 12, 2023.
  • Work at an Amazon center in one of these designated locations:
    • Cincinnati/Dayton/Hebron, OH
    • Columbus, OH
    • Cleveland, OH
    • Other Ohio locations
